ABOUT THE HOCKEY:

INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel face off with the Kansas City Mavericks for the first time this season for a Wednesday night matchup. This is the Fuel’s first game since December 18 as their game versus Cincinnati last Friday was postponed to April 9, 2023 due to weather. The Mavericks are coming off of a 4-1 win over the Iowa Heartlanders on December 23.

LAST TIME OUT

The last time these two teams met was June 2, 2021 where Indy dominated in a 5-1 win over Kansas City while outshooting them 42-29. Spencer Watson recorded a goal in that game. The Mavericks are currently 11-10-3 and fourth place in the Mountain division. The Fuel currently sit at first place in the Central division at 17-8-1.

MERRY MALONE

Despite missing a game on December 17, Seamus Malone is on a three-game point streak with two goals and two assists since December 14. He also has 24 points in 25 games this season, putting him in second place on the team in that category. Additionally, he has the second highest shooting percentage on the team, registering 60 shots on the season so far. Malone leads the team in power play goals with five which have been an important piece of the Fuel’s special teams.

BUSY DRIZZY

In those seven games, he made 232 saves including making a season high of 48 saves on 51 shots against Wheeling on December 16 that resulted in the team’s fourth win in that stretch of seven games.
