ABOUT THE HOCKEY:
INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel are back home again for another sell out game against the Kalamazoo Wings as they celebrate Star Wars Night with speciality Mandalorian jerseys. Indy is looking for their 24th win of the season to keep them in first place in the Central division.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was on November 27th, 2022 where the Fuel took the win in Kalamazoo, 3-2. Seamus Malone, who scored in last night’s game and leads the Fuel with 13 goals, scored in this game against the Wings. As did defenseman Shane Kuzmeski and forward Chad Yetman who has since been called up to the AHL’s Belleville Senators.
The Fuel’s special teams units have been an interesting part of their game all season long. From the extremes of leading the league in shorthanded goals to minor struggles on the power play, special teams has been a key for the team all season. Unfortunately, last night the Fuel’s penalty kill in the second period was the difference maker in the game. After a series of minor penalties and a massive major and game misconduct handed out to Indy’s Kirill Chaika, the Fuel game up two big power play goals that led to a loss. Getting the penalties under control and effectively killing them off is important.
