ABOUT THE HOCKEY:
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indy Fuel face off with the Wheeling Nailers in a Sunday afternoon game today. They hope to finish off their weekend with a win that would mark five games in a row and keep them in first place in the division, widening the gap between them and Cincinnati who sits in second place.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these teams met was in Wheeling on December 16 where the Fuel defeated the Nailers 6-3 after giving up the first goal early in the game and then scoring five in a row. With one goal and two assists in that meeting, Alex Wideman had a big game.
WIDEMAN SUCCESS
That is not the only game where Wideman has found success with the Nailers. He currently leads Indy against them with four goals and four assists through four games against Wheeling this season. He currently leads Indy overall in points with 43 and assists with 31.
IN THE BOX
Over the last two games, the Fuel have taken 49 penalty minutes including three fighting majors. Indy has had a lot of success this season both on the power play and the penalty kill. They lead the league with ten shorthanded goals so despite a large number of penalties taken, it may not always be the worst thing for them.
