MATCHUP: Indy Fuel @ Fort Wayne Komets

INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel will end their weekend against Fort Wayne, looking to collect two more points to keep themselves in first place in the division headed into the All-Star Break.
LAST TIME OUT
These two teams haven’t played since last year…on December 31, 2022. The Fuel visited the Komets on New Year’s Eve and were able to take one final win of 2022 with a 4-3 victory over the Komets. Alex Wideman had a big night with a goal and an assist, as well as the defensemen shining on the score sheet with a goal from Keoni Texeira and assists from Kirill Chaika, Matt Watson and Andrew Perrott.
SWATTY DREAMS
Spencer Watson, who is now the Fuel’s all-time leading goal scorer added two more to his record last night in his first multi-goal game since March of 2022. Assistant coach Kevin Moore spoke of him post-game, saying “it means everything to the team, it’s just another weapon we have.” Watson has the Fuel’s single season goals record of 31 as well, which he has achieved twice.
STANDINGS BREAKDOWN
With a win tonight, the Fuel could make it over the 50-point hurdle in the standings and stay ahead of the Cincinnati Cyclones who currently trail them by three points but also play the Toledo Walleye today who trail them by nine points and sit in third place in the division.
