INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel will finish their weekend against their cross-state rivals, the Fort Wayne Komets. Fort Wayne currently sits eight points behind Indy in the standings, in fourth place in the Central division.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was January 21 when the Fuel visited Fort Wayne and took a 4-2 victory over the Komets with three goals in the third period. Chad Yetman had a two goal game in that meeting that saw 44 combined penalty minutes.
AWESOME ALEX
Alex Wideman has led the Fuel in scoring for most of the season. He currently has 55 points, including 17 goals. He is just seven points away from tying his single season record for points which he achieved in the 2018-19 season with the Cincinnati Cyclones. He is on pace to break that record. Wideman was the lone goalscorer in last night’s matchup against the Toledo Walleye.
CHASING MILESTONES
Heading into today’s game, there are a few different milestones that could be achieved. First, this will be Wideman’s 300th ECHL game. Additionally, captain Keoni Texeira and veteran Jared Thomas are both just one point away from reaching 100 points while with the Fuel. There are also three active Fuel players in Spencer Watson, Chad Yetman and Seamus Malone who are tied with most game-winning goals for the Fuel with eight.
