GAME 52 - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24 VS TOLEDO 4-1 L

The Fuel hosted the Walleye for the first time in the 2022-23 season after two games against them in Toledo where they went 1-1. If Indy won, they would have tied for second place in the division with the Walleye, but ultimately fell 4-1.

GAME 53 - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25 VS CINCINNATI - 7-1 L

The Indy Fuel hosted the Cincinnati Cyclones for Game Night in front of 6,329 fans - their fourth sold out crowd of the season. Unfortunately, luck was not on the Fuel’s side and they fell to the Cyclones, 7-1.

GAME 54 - WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 28 VS KALAMAZOO - 2-1 W

The Fuel hosted the Kalamazoo Wings bright and early for Education Day with a 10:30 a.m. puck drop in their eleventh meeting of the season. The Fuel dropped the last two games to the K-Wings but came from behind to defeat them 2-1 here today.

ROSTER MOVES 

  • Forward Chad Yetman returned from loan to Belleville (AHL) on 2/22
  • Defenseman Matt Watson activated from IR on 2/22
  • Defenseman Shane Kuzmeski waived on 2/27
  • Forward Colin Bilek assigned by Rockford (AHL) on 2/27
  • Defenseman Koletrane Wilson recalled by Rockford (AHL) on 2/27
  • Defenseman Bryan Etter signed contract on 2/27

OIL DROPS 

  • Indy sold out back-to-back games on Saturday and Wednesday, marking the first time the Fuel have had two sell outs in a row in the team's history. 
  • They also broke the franchise attendance record for the third time this season with a crowd of 6,880 on Education Day, Tuesday, February 28.
  • Defenseman Matt Watson scored his first Fuel and ECHL goal on Tuesday morning against the Kalamazoo Wings. 
  • Colin Bilek, who joined the team from Trois-Rivieres last weekend has 137 shots this season in 46 games, including his Fuel debut. This puts him in second place in shots behind Spencer Watson who has led the team all year.
  • Additionally, Bilek has six power play goals on the season which puts him in second place on the team behind Seamus Malone who has seven. His 14 goals overall on the season put him in fourth place on the team.

TEAM NOTES

  • The Fuel are 18-8-0-0 when scoring first.
  • Indy’s 7-1 loss to Cincinnati on Saturday was the largest margin of defeat for the Fuel all season.
  • The Fuel’s overall power play is ranked tenth in the league, but their fourth place road power play record is better than their nineteenth place home power play record. 
  • Indy’s 86.6% home penalty kill rate remains the second best in the league behind Idaho’s.
  • The Fuel still lead the league in shorthanded goals with 13 but Florida and Cincinnati have both crept up on them, scoring 11 each.
  • The Fuel are approaching 600 shots in the second period which is statistically their period with the highest shooting and scoring percentage. 
  • They also allow the most shots in the second period with 578.
