INDIANAPOLIS- In the final weekend of regular season play, the Fuel will spend their Saturday in Fort Wayne to take on their division rivals one final time after a 2-1 win over them last night. After tonight, Indy will finish out their regular season visiting the Kalamazoo Wings tomorrow afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was last night where the Fuel came back to win 2-1 after no goals were scored in the first period. After a return from injury, Seamus Malone has been on a three game goal streak, scoring a shorthanded game-tying goal last night, followed by a goal from Logan Nijhoff to claim the win.
In historically his best season of his career, Alex Wideman heads into this game against Fort Wayne, just one point from tying his teammate Spencer Watson’s franchise points record of 176 set earlier this season. The Fuel as a team are just six goals away from tying the single season high of 242 goals in the 2017-18 season.
Both the Fuel and the Komets have secured their places in the Kelly Cup Playoffs in third and fourth place in the Central division respectively. While this is a strong rivalry that always provides some heated moments, both teams are looking to sharpen their special teams while keeping their players healthy and prepared to take on the top two seeds in the division starting next week.
