TOLEDO- The Fuel begin their playoff journey tonight in Toledo taking on the Walleye. The best of seven matchup will feature Toledo hosting the first two and last two games if necessary and the Fuel hosting the middle three. The winner of this series will face the winner of the other Central division matchup, the Fort Wayne Komets and the Cincinnati Cyclones.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was April 1 when Toledo won 5-4 over Indy. Overall on the season, the Walleye went 5-1 over the Fuel. Indy won their first meeting on November 19, 4-3 and were able to force overtime in their meeting on March 17 but ultimately fell in that game too. Through those six games, Alex Wideman leads the Fuel in points against the Walleye with five and Andrew Bellant leads Indy in goals against Toledo with three.
PLAYOFF HISTORY
In the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs, the Fuel matched up against the Toledo Walleye in Indy’s first ever playoff appearance since their founding. While the Fuel were able to force two games to overtime, ultimately the Walleye swept Indy in four games and went on to lose to Fort Wayne in the division finals.Â
HOCKEYTOWN 2: WIDEMAN’S REVENGE
Alex Wideman is the only currently rostered Fuel player who was on the 2018 playoff roster and faced the Walleye in that series. In the final game of that series, Wideman had a goal and an assist which was a team high in points for Fuel players in that game.Â
