INDIANAPOLIS - The Fuel will head to the East Coast for their first of three games to kick off 2024 in Norfolk, Virginia.
LAST TIME OUT
It has been a long time since these two teams have met. So long ago that Chase Lang opened up the scoring for Norfolk in the first period. The last game between these two franchises was over three years ago on December 29, 2021, at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
The Admirals would ultimately come out on top 3-2 after losing 4-0 to the Fuel the day prior in the only two matchups between these franchises in their histories.
MAKING HISTORY
The three games this weekend will mark the first-ever games the Fuel will play in Norfolk. This will be the longest domestic road trip the team will make this season as they travel down John Denver’s Country Roads to Norfolk Scope Arena to spend a long weekend on the coast.
All signs point to a hard-fought battle as both teams come in recording at least one point in the standings in six of their last 10 times out on the ice.
AROUND THE DIVISION
The Toledo Walleye clear and away leads the Western Central Division with 44 points, a decisive nine points in front of Fort Wayne in second place but the difference between third and last place is a tight race.
Wheeling has 32 points in third place and the Iowa Heartlanders are in last place with 27 points. The Fuel currently sit all alone in sixth place with 28 points and a win tonight could propel them to fourth in the division with losses by Cincinnati and Kalamazoo.
