FORT WAYNE- The Fuel will take on the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday night as they begin a road weekend featuring games against Fort Wayne and Toledo, in hopes to hold on to their second place spot in the Central division standings.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was Sunday, March 10 in a matchup in Fort Wayne where the Komets came away with a 4-3 win despite three late goals by the Fuel to keep them in play. All four of Fort Wayne’s goals came either on the power play or shorthanded, so controlling special teams will be important in this game. Indy defensemen claimed an assist on every goal scored for the Fuel that game, so generating offense from the blue line will also be important for them.
CENTRAL STANDINGS
The Toledo Walleye clinched the Central division with a narrow 3-2 victory in Indy on Wednesday night. While they sit atop the standings with 91 points, the second through fifth place teams are separated by just seven points in a race that has been close all season. With the season drawing to an end and a lot of in-division play still ahead, it’s anybody’s game.
