INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel have announced on Thursday that they have signed forward Nathan Noel to a standard player contract for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Noel, 27, joins the Fuel from the Maine Mariners where he played 24 games last season. Prior to that, he spent two seasons with the Newfoundland Growlers where he had 129 penalty minutes in 55 games.
During the 2020-21 season, the St. John’s, Newfoundland native did not play but during the 2019-20 season, Noel spent most of his season with the Fuel. In 39 games that season, Noel had 17 points for Indy. He also registered one game with the Reading Royals and South Carolina Stingrays that season after eight games with the Rockford IceHogs, the Fuel’s AHL affiliate.
The 5’11 center played 46 games for the IceHogs during the 2018-19 season after being drafted 116th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2016 NHL Draft.
Prior to being drafted, Noel played four seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), for the Saint John Sea Dogs.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Noel had 50 points in 52 regular season games as well as a career-high +19 goal differential. In the playoffs that year, Noel had nine points in 18 games and helped the Sea Dogs win a QMJHL championship. The year prior, Noel had 57 points in 61 games and 13 points in 16 playoff games.
In 2015, Noel led the Sea Dogs in scoring with 62 points in 66 games and averaged over a point per game in the playoffs that season.
