INDIANAPOLIS — After a hard-fought 4-3 loss against Iowa on the historic home opener, the Fuel looks to regain strength for Saturday’s Military Appreciation Night. Despite leading 3-1 going into the third period, the Fuel allowed three back-to-back goals by Iowa, ending their four-game win streak.
OUR WEST-POINT GRADS
The Fuel is proud to have two Army West Point graduates who strengthen our lines and our team’s depth. Alternate captain forward Colin Bilek graduated in 2022 and wore the “C” for the Army’s Hockey Team for two years. Defenseman Thomas Farrell wore the “A” during Bilek’s senior year and then was his successor for the “C” his senior year.
THE PLAYS THAT HAUNT YOU
Last night, the Fuel had numerous turnovers in their own zone, which led to their struggle to maintain puck possession. Indy also made some unnecessary end-of-whistle penalties, which cost them a goal and momentum. When playing a divisional foe like Iowa, every contest is going to be a play of penalty minutes and those power plays/penalty kills. Iowa is still at the top of the league in PIMs with 352 and has allowed 13 road power plays.
