INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel will host the Wheeling Nailers for the first time this month tonight for Hockey is for Everyone Night. This kicks off a two-game weekend before the Fuel host the Kansas City Mavericks tomorrow night.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams played was Friday, January 10th when Wheeling visited Indy and claimed a 4-1 victory. Wheeling’s Matthew Quercia had a two-goal night while shots were equal 26-26 between the two teams. Colin Bilek had the lone Indy goal while Fuel PIM leader Cam Hausinger, who will be suspended this game, had a fighting penalty along with Dakota Seaman.
SUS SUSPENSIONS
The Fuel are coming into this game with three suspended players after altercations in or after their last game against Fort Wayne. With 168 combined penalty minutes, the Indiana teams left last Sunday with six suspended players including the Fuel’s Cam Hausinger, Nathan Burke, and Lucas Brenton. A key to this game will be navigating playing without those names.
SCOUTING REPORT
Despite being second in the North division, Wheeling has lost four of their last five games against mainly Central division opponents, including a 6-3 loss to Toledo on Sunday. Matty De St. Phalle leads the team in points with 40, and assists with 25 along with Jack Beck while Kyle Jackson leads Wheeling in goals with 18. Neutralizing those players will be imperative for Indy tonight.
