INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs announced Wednesday that they have signed forward Michael McNicholas and claimed forward Ross Olsson off waivers from Kansas City.
McNicholas, 26, signs with the Fuel after he began the 2020-21 season with the Utah Grizzlies. Skating in two games with the Grizzlies, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward earned one goal and a minus-1 rating. McNicholas comes to Indy with 130 ECHL games under his belt split between the Indy Fuel, Maine Mariners and Utah Grizzlies. The third-year forward has registered 25 goals, 68 assists and 42 penalty minutes through 130 games.
Olsson, 26, comes to Indy after he spent the first part of the 2020-21 season with the Kansas City Mavericks. The 6-foot-4, 216-pound defenseman has skated in six games this season earning one goal, one assist and 18 penalty minutes. With 64 ECHL games under his belt, the second-year pro has tallied 15 goals, 11 assists and 154 penalty minutes.
