INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs announced Wednesday that they have signed defensemen Brandon Fehd and Alec McCrea as well as goaltender Taran Kozun to standard player contracts for the 2020-21 season.
Fehd, 30, comes to Indy after he began the season with the Rapid City Rush. The 5-foot-10, 181-pound defenseman has skated in six games this season earning four penalty minutes. A native of Gilbert, Arizona, Fehd has 94 ECHL games under his belt registering three goals, 14 assists and 63 penalty minutes.
McCrea, 26, signs with the Fuel after splitting the 2019-20 season with the ECHL’s Toledo Wallye and AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins. Skating in 28 AHL games last season, McCrea tallied five assists and 15 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro with Grand Rapids, the second-year pro played four seasons at Cornell University, helping the team to the 2017-18 ECAC Regular Season Championship.
Kozun, 26, signs after splitting the beginning of the 2020-21 season with the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks and SPHL’s Pensacola IceFlyers. The native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan has appeared in a total of 10 ECHL games with the Kansas City Mavericks, Manchester Monarchs, Utah Grizzlies. Through 10 games, Kozun has registered a 3.17 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage.
