Press, Bondra assigned to Indy from Rockford

INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs announced Friday that they have assigned defenseman Robin Press and forward Radovan Bondra to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. Additonally, the Fuel announced that they have released forwards Connor Reilly and J.T. Barnett from their ECHL contracts. Indy opens its home schedule Saturday night against the Tulsa Oilers at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Press, 22, has seen action in two games for the IceHogs this season. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound defenseman appeared in 30 games for the Fuel in 2016-17, registering two goals and eight assists, after beginning the season with Djurgårdans IF of the Swedish Hockey League. A seventh round pick of the Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (No. 211 overall), Press tallied one goal and three assists over 62 career SHL games with Djurgårdens.

Bondra, 20, made his North American professional debut last spring with the IceHogs, suiting up for five games while registering a pair of penalty minutes. The 6-foot-5, 216-pound forward from Trebisov, Slovakia is coming off of two seasons in the Western Hockey League, where he totaled 93 points (47g, 46a) in 121 games split between the Prince George Cougars and Vancouver Giants. A fifth-round pick (No. 151 overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Bondra represented Slovakia in the IIHF U20 World Junior Championships in each of the past three seasons, winning a bronze medal in 2015.
