The Fort Wayne Komets ended Indy's home ice winning streak last weekend in Indianapolis, sweeping a home-and-home series with identical 5-2 scores. Cam Reid (7g 10a) and Michael Neal (10g, 3a) each put one on the board for Indy with the help of Alex Wideman (6g, 9a) and Johnny McInnis (2g, 3a) serving up the assists.
The Fuel, holding a sixth-place position in the Central Division, will be right on the heels of the fifth place Kalamazoo. Both clubs will attempt to kick start winning streaks as the Wings arrive in Indy with a weekend loss to Toledo 5-4 on December 17.
Shorthanded Success: Over the last eight games, Indy's shorthanded group has put a stop to 22 out of the last 23 opposing power play opportunities. Overall, the Fuel penalty kill ranks fifth in the league for a generated 86.5 success rate.
The Neal Keeps Rolling: With goals in three straight games, Michael Neal will look to keep his scoring streak going on Wednesday. Neal added his team-leading tenth goal of the season Saturday against Fort Wayne, his ninth in ten games.
Inside the Matchup: The Wings and Fuel will be meeting for the second of 10 times for the 2017-18 season. The Fuel will have the home ice advantage yet again as they triumphed over Kalamazoo 6-2 earlier this season on Nov. 17. Indy has compiled a record of 6-5-1-0 against the Wings dating back to last season.
Scouting Report: Leading scorer Justin Taylor (11g, 12a) has tucked away four goals within the last four games. Eric Kattelus (3g 15a) will also combine with Taylor on the offense for the Wings by producing seven assists in the last four games.
