INDIANAPOLIS - The ECHL's Indy Fuel announced Thursday that they have signed defenseman Andrew DeBrincat to an amateur tryout contract. In an additional move, the Fuel have released defenseman James Roll from his ATO.
DeBrincat, 24, just finished his senior season at American International College (Mass.), where he logged one goal and 13 assists in 37 games. The 5-foot-7, 155-pound defenseman missed only four games over his four years with the Yellow Jackets, finishing with three goals and 48 assists in 146 career NCAA contests.
Before going to school, DeBrincat spent the 2014-15 with the New Jersey Hitmen of the U.S. Premier Hockey League (USPHL), picking up 34 points (4g, 30a) in 47 games. The native of Farmington Hills, Mich. is the older brother of former OHL scoring champion and current Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat.
The Fuel continue their push for the Kelly Cup Playoffs Friday with a visit U.S. Bank Arena Friday to take on the Cincinnati Cyclones, before returning to Indiana Farmers Coliseum Saturday to host Toledo.
