INDIANAPOLIS - The ECHL's Indy Fuel announced Friday that they have signed goaltender Edwin Minney to an amateur tryout contract (ATO). Additionally, defenseman Brandon Anselmini has been activated from injured reserve, and looks to make his return to the Fuel lineup after sitting out the previous 20 games.
Minney, 21, just completed his collegiate career at Michigan State University, where he posted a 5-18-4 record in 38 total appearances with the Spartans. The 6-foot-5, 208-pound netminder saw action in a career-high 25 games as a junior in 2016-17, sporting a 5-14-3 mark with one shutout.
A native of Wind Gap, Penn., Minney spent two seasons prior to college with the United States National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he won a gold medal with the U.S. National Under-18 team in the 2014 World Junior Championships.
The Fuel continue their push for the Kelly Cup Playoffs Friday with a visit U.S. Bank Arena Friday to take on the Cincinnati Cyclones, before returning to Indiana Farmers Coliseum Saturday to host Toledo.
