INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs announced Tuesday that they have recalled goaltender Matt Tomkins from the ECHL's Indy Fuel.
Tomkins, 24, joins the IceHogs for his second AHL stint this season, posting a 1-3-2 record in seven appearances during his first call-up from Dec. 27 to Feb. 8. While with the Fuel, the native of Sherwood Park, Alberta has compiled an 11-9-2 record alongside a 3.47 goals against average and a .912 save percentage over 25 games.
A product of Ohio State University, Tomkins has helped the Fuel to points in four of his last five appearances (2-1-2), and was named the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week from Dec. 4-10.
The Fuel continue their push for a Kelly Cup Playoff berth this weekend with a pair of critical Central Division match-ups at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Indy hosts the Kansas City Mavericks Friday, before taking on the Fort Wayne Komets on Made In America night.
