INDIANAPOLIS - The National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks announced Tuesday that they have reassigned forward Nathan Noel from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. Noel will be available for the Fuel as they take on the Kansas City Mavericks tonight at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
Noel, 20, skated in 17 games with the IceHogs following his recall on Feb. 1, logging one goal and 18 penalty minutes. The rookie's first AHL goal was the game-winning tally in a 4-3 Rockford win against the San Antonio Rampage on Feb. 18.
In 17 contests with Indy this season, Noel has collected four goals, five assists and 18 penalty minutes. The native of St. John's, Newfoundland marked his first professional points with a pair of shorthanded goals in Indy's 6-2 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Nov. 17.
A fourth round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft (No. 113 overall), Noel spent the previous last four seasons with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), where he collected 208 points (85g, 123a) in 242 total games, helping his team to a trip to the Memorial Cup in 2016-17.
