2017-18 FUEL PERFORMANCE REVIEW: ZACH MISKOVIC
#3 | DEFENSEMAN | RIVER FOREST, ILL.
2017-18 STATS: 72 GP, 7 G, 12 A, 19 PTS, 75 PIMS, 2 PPG
He might have been the oldest player on the roster, but defenseman Zach Miskovic remained an integral part of the Fuel's blue line in 2017-18. At 32 years of age, the ninth-year veteran was the only player on Indy's roster to suit up for all 72 regular season games, while also chipping in two assists in four Kelly Cup Playoff contests.
Serving as one of the Fuel's captain since joining the club before the 2015-16 season, Miskovic became the franchise leader in games played, suiting up for 185 total contests over three seasons in an Indy uniform. In addition to his leadership and veteran presence in the locker room, Miskovic provided steady two-way play while bringing a touch of toughness to the blue line.
Playing most of the season alongside rookie Jack Burton, Miskovic finished second behind Robin Press in defensemen scoring with 19 points (7g, 12a), including a pair of power play goals. The defenseman also tallied a career-high 75 penalty minutes.
"Misko is just a true leader. His numbers were among the best in his career, and he's just a guy you can rely upon to do all of the little things. He plays an AHL type of game with his aggressiveness, and was great for us this year." - Head Coach Bernie John
