INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL Affiliate of the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks and the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, announced Wednesday that they have received the rights to forward Kevin Dufour and cash considerations from the Wichita Thunder. The move satisfies the future considerations owed to the Fuel as part of the trade that sent forward Nick Bligh to Wichita on Dec. 21, 2017.
All ECHL teams must submit their season-ending rosters by Friday, the last official day of the 2017-18 season schedule. Teams can begin to sign players to 2018-19 ECHL contracts beginning on Saturday, June 16.
Dufour, 25, is coming off a strong rookie campaign, posting 40 points (19g, 21a) in 69 games split between the Thunder and the Brampton Beast. The 6-foot, 195-pound forward from Quebec City, Quebec made his professional debut at the end of the 2016-17 season, appearing in nine games for the South Carolina Stingrays, tallying three goals and four assists.
A four-year product of Bowling Green State University, Dufour racked up 87 points (54g, 33a) in 154 career NCAA games, leading the Falcons with 18 goals as a senior in 2016-17.
