INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Thursday their 21-man roster for the start of the 2018-19 ECHL season. The Fuel will open their schedule Friday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum with 15 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders on their active roster.
The Fuel begin the season carrying four veterans (Zach Miskovic, Olivier Labelle, Josh Shalla and Ryan Rupert) and ten rookies. A total of eight players (Josh Shalla, Ryan Rupert, Matt Rupert, Logan Nelson, Johnny McInnis, Mathew Thompson, Zach Miskovic, Matt Tomkins) return from the Fuel's 2017-18 roster, which earned the club's first Kelly Cup Playoff berth in franchise history.
Six players on Indy's Opening Night roster enter the season under contract with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, including forwards Radovan Bondra, Connor Moynihan and Brett Welychka, defensemen Neil Manning and Josh McArdle, and goaltender Matt Tomkins.
The Fuel are set to kick off their fifth anniversary season during Opening Weekend at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. A rally towel giveaway, $3 beer and soda, and $1 hot dogs are in store Friday as Indy takes on the Fort Wayne Komets, while fans can enjoy a pregame Fan Fest and postgame autographs Saturday as the Fuel host the Kalamazoo Wings.
