Indy Returns to Home Ice Taking On Toledo

HOME BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS: Coming off of a dramatic overtime win on Friday night, the Fuel return home on Saturday to host the Toledo Walleye in the fourth matchup out of 13 this season. With a win on Friday, the Fuel have won five out of their last seven games, including two out of three against the Walleye. Toledo comes to Indiana Farmers Coliseum having lost to the Wheeling Nailers on Friday night at WesBanco Arena.

THE MATCHUP: The Fuel have met the Walleye three times this season, two of the games being played at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. In both matchups at Indy, the Fuel came out flying, scoring three goals in the first period. In Indy's last matchup with Toledo, they fell by a score of 6-2 at the Huntington Center, giving up four straight goals in the third period.

SPECIAL TEAMS BATTLE: Both teams enter Saturday's matchup sitting in the top five in both power play and penalty kill. Going 1-for-2 on Friday night against the Komets, Indy's power play is second in the ECHL, scoring on 24.8 percent of their chances. Toledo is the lone team ahead of the Fuel in power play chances, scoring on 26.7 percent of their power plays. Occupying the top two spots in power play percentage, Indy and Toledo sit fourth and fifth in penalty killing. Killing off 85.2 percent of their penalties, the Fuel sit one spot behind the Walleye, who have killed off 85.6 percent of their penalties.

PUCK STOPPERS: Winning his sixth start in a row on Friday night against Fort Wayne, Charles Williams has a 2.65 goals against average and .915 save percentage through 17 games in a Fuel uniform. Williams's last start against the Walleye came on Friday, December 12, where he made 40 saves, helping the Fuel to a 4-3 overtime win. Starting the last five games for the Walleye, Billy Christopoulos has earned a 2.97 goals against average and a .914 save percentage through eight games.

LOOKING AHEAD: After facing the Walleye on Saturday night, the Fuel will head into the 2019 Holiday break. Immediately following the holiday break, Indy will play four games in five days from December 27 to December 31. Three out of the four games will come against Central Division teams in the Kalamazoo Wings and Wheeling Nailers.
