FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Coming off of back to back games against the Kalamazoo Wings and Fort Wayne Komets last weekend, Indy begins three games in three days, starting with a Friday contest against the Kalamazoo Wings. Indy has lost four of their last five games heading into Friday night while Kalamazoo most recently lost to the Fort Wayne Komets on Tuesday night.
THE MATCHUP: Having lost four of their last five games, Indy heads into this weekend looking to get back on the winning track. Hosting the Wings on Friday night, Indy will have the chance to earn two points in the Central Division standings. The Fuel have fared well recently against the Wings, winning the last two games at Wings Event Center. Kalamazoo enters Friday having lost five out of their last six games, their one win coming against Wheeling on February 22.
GOALS LEADERS: Earning four points in last Friday's matchup at Wings Event Center, Derian Plouffe leads the team in points against the Wings this season. Tallying four goals and three assists in six games against the Wings this season, Plouffe has earned a career-high in points in his second professional year. Tied with Plouffe in points against the Wings, Spencer Watson leads the Fuel in both goals and points. In his third year pro, Watson currently leads the ECHL with 28 goals in 48 games in a Fuel uniform. Skating in all six games against the Fuel, Zach Diamantoni has registered three goals and two assists against Indy. Leading the Wings in points through 42 games, Justin Taylor has earned 16 goals and 18 assists.
SPECIAL TEAMS BATTLE: Coming into Friday with the sixth most penalty minutes in the league, Kalamazoo has averaged 15.31 penalty minutes per game. Sitting in 26th in the ECHL in penalty killing through 54 games, the Wings have killed off 76.5% of their penalties this season while Indy holds the fourth-best power play in the ECHL, scoring on 21% of their man advantages. Through 54 games, the Fuel have consistently sat in the top 10 in the league when on the man advantage this season.
LOOKING AHEAD: Beginning three games in three days on Friday night, the Fuel will host the ECHL's Player's Weekend. Donning their alternate grey uniforms on Friday and Saturday, the Fuel jerseys will feature each player's nicknames. Saturday night fans will have the chance to meet Blackhawks legend Dave Bolland as well as bid on the game-worn uniforms featuring the player nicknames.
