INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs announced Thursday that they have re-signed forward Alex Rauter to a standard player contract for the 2020-21 season.
Rauter, 26, re-signs with the Fuel after spending the second half of the 2019-20 season in the Circle City. Acquired in a trade from the Rapid City Rush in early December, Rauter played 27 games in a Fuel uniform, earning 11 goals and nine assists. Entering his third professional season, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward has 110 ECHL games under his belt, tallying 31 goals and 41 assists.
Prior to playing professionally, Rauter spent four seasons at Cornell University, skating in 93 games earning 20 goals and 23 assists. Serving as the team’s captain during his senior year, Rauter earned 11 goals and nine assists through 32 games while helping the Big Red to the 2017-18 ECAC Regular Season Championship.
