This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with PNC Bank to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.
This month, the Indy Fuel partnered with Prevail for the second of three events for the Hat Trick for Humanity Initiative. Prevail is an organization that strives to empower victims of crime and abuse on their path to healing while engaging the community to support safe, healthy relationships. Their services include helping people get Protective Orders, offer support for non-offending parents/guardians whose children have experienced trauma and provide assistance to find housing, employment, food transportation, budge planning and more.
In their second event for the Hat Trick for Humanity, the Fuel hosted an Open Skate at the Fuel Tank in Fishers. Fans who brought donations were able to skate for free with Nitro and Fuel Pit Crew members. Along with accepting donations, the Fuel team took the pledge to stand up against violence during #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth.
In addition to hosting the open skate at The Fuel Tank, the Fuel staff volunteered at Coats for Kids through the Salvation Army. Children and families around Central Indiana were able to come to the fairgrounds to pick out a winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves. Because of donors and volunteers, Coats for Kids was able to provide warmth to hundreds of children in Indianapolis this winter.Â
The Fuel are looking forward to starting their season on December 11th after an extended time off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we aren’t starting the season on time, we continue to look forward to when players and coaches can get back out into our communities and make a difference. Whether it is our mascot Nitro, players, coaches or our staff, getting out into the community and making us all one big hockey family is one of the largest priorities of the Indy Fuel organization.
