INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs announced Wednesday that they have signed forward Nic Pierog to a standard player contract for the 2020-21 season.
Pierog, 27, signs with the Fuel after he split the 2019-20 season between the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers and ECHL’s Worcester Railers. The native of Georgetown, Ontario has 118 ECHL games under his belt between the Worcester Railers and Manchester Monarchs, tallying 54 goals, 35 assists and 87 penalty minutes. Skating in a total of 15 AHL games over two seasons, the 6-foot-2, 209-pound forward earned three goals and two assists.
Prior to turning pro, Pierog played four seasons for Clarkson University. Skating in 115 NCAA contests, Pierog earned 21 goals, 23 assists and 129 penalty minutes as well as serving as captain during his junior and senior year. Before his collegiate career, the Ontario native helped the Penticton Vees to the BCHL Championship by scoring three goals and four assists in 11 games.
