Coming off of four games in five days last week, the Indy Fuel head into a home and home series with the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday night. Wheeling will be heading into their first games since January 9th after having multiple games postponed due to COVID protocol while Indy will be looking to get back on the winning track after losing Sunday’s game against Wichita.Â

Opening the 2021 calendar year, the Indy Fuel faced the Nailers for the fifth time in seven games. Both teams traded goals throughout the game, eventually leading to Indy’s fourth overtime game of the season where Spencer Watson netted the winning goal.
LONG TIME NO SEE
With five out of the first seven games of the season coming against the Wheeling Nailers, the Fuel holds a 4-1-0-0 record over their Central Divison rival. With their most recent contest postponed due to COVID protocol, this will be the first time the two teams have seen each other in just under a month. Saturday’s contest will be Wheeling’s first games since January 9th after having multiple games postponed due to COVID protocol. All five games between Indy and Wheeling this season have ended as one-goal games, two of them ending in overtime.Â
PIEROG’S POINTS
Coming into Saturday night, Nic Pierog leads the Fuel in both points and goals. The third-year pro has registered seven goals through 13 games, putting him tied for second in the ECHL. Pierog will enter Saturday’s contest looking to earn points in back to back games for the first time since January 2nd and 8th.Â
BILLY’S BLOCKS
Appearing in three out of four games last week, Billy Christopoulos earned himself a 2-1-0 record with a 1.65 goals-against and a .950 save percentage. Stopping 96 out of 101 shots in three games, Christopoulos earned his second career ECHL Goaltender of the Week Nomination. Â
