Coming off of back-to-back wins in the previous weekend, the Fuel visited the Kansas City Mavericks for their last game before Christmas. After giving up three goals in the second period, the Fuel bounced back in the third period to force overtime where Nic Pierog would end the game with a wrist shot past Taran Kozun.

CHASING RECORDS

Appearing in his 14th game of the season on Wednesday, goaltender Dan Bakala earned his league-leading 12th win and second shutout of the year. Since joining the Fuel during the 2019-20 ECHL season, Bakala has earned four shutouts, tying an Indy Fuel franchise record held by Mac Carruth and Jake Hildebrand. Through 14 games this season, Bakala has registered 2.29 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage.

BOUNCING BACK

After dropping back-to-back games against the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday and Sunday, the Fuel bounced back and dominated the Wheeling Nailers 6-0. Throughout the 2020-21 ECHL season, the Fuel have typically responded to regulation losses by scoring four or more goals in the following game. Putting together a 6-0 win over the Nailers on Wednesday, the Fuel will be expecting to continue the winning trend on Friday against the Mavericks.
