Fuel Close Out Long Road Swing with Visit to Wheeling

Playing their final game of a 10-game road swing, the Indy Fuel visits the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday night. Indy comes into WesBanco Arena having won back-to-back games as well as earned points in four out of their last five games. Attempting to play spoiler for the remainder of the season, the Nailers have lost five out of their last six games coming into Wednesday.

Playing the first half of a home and home series, the Indy Fuel visited the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday, April 14. Wheeling would take the lead in the first period thanks to a Patrick McNally goal before Indy’s Willie Raskob tied the game in the second. Wheeling would score two unanswered goals in the third period to eventually take the 3-1 win over Indy. 

GOING STREAKING

Entering Wednesday’s contest, forward Matt Marcinew has picked up goals in three straight games. Scoring the eventual game-winning goal on Saturday night against Rapid City, forward Matt Marcinew broke the Fuel franchise record for game-winning goals.

Earning wins on Saturday and Sunday night, the Fuel sits in third place in the East behind Greenville who only has two losses in their last 11 games. Facing a Wheeling team who is looking to play spoiler for the rest of the season, Indy needs to pick up wins in order to stay four wins ahead of the Orlando Solar Bears.
