Duncan Dalmao Joins Indy Fuel Coaching Staff

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs announced Tuesday that they have hired Duncan Dalmao as the club’s Assistant Coach. Dalmao joins Head Coach and General Manager Doug Christiansen as full-time members of the Fuel coaching staff.

Dalmao is set to continue his professional coaching career after he served as assistant coach of the Brampton Beast for two seasons. The native of Toronto, Ontario is entering his third professional season behind the bench. Prior to that, Dalmao served as the associate coach of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 team. 

“I am really excited to add a coach with such tremendous passion for developing players and growing the culture,” said Head Coach Doug Christiansen. “He has been a coach of a playoff team in Brampton and was one of the best defensemen in the ECHL for a number of years. He brings experience and knowledge that will help our players grow and develop this season.”

Prior to his coaching career, Dalmao has 11 professional seasons under his belt split between North America and Europe. After playing three seasons in the OHL, Dalmao played in 391 ECHL games tallying 49 goals and 152 assists with the Birmingham Bulls, Pee Dee Pride Roanoake Express, and Greenville Grrrowl while earning the 2001 ECHL Defenseman of the Year award. 

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Head Coach Doug Christiansen and the rest of the Fuel staff,” Dalmao said. “Our goal this season is to not only win a Kelly Cup but advance as many players as possible to the next level through development.”
