Indy Visits Kalamazoo for First Time This Season

Falling to the Iowa Heartlanders on Friday night, the Indy Fuel heads to Kalamazoo for their first matchup of the season. The Wings are coming off a 4-2 win over Cincinnati on Wednesday night, while Indy is trying to earn their first win since November 5.

It’s been 612 days since the Kalamazoo Wings faced the Indy Fuel. The last time the two teams met was the final game of the 2019-20 season that was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There would be only goal one goal throughout the game and it was scored by Indy’s Spencer Watson to break the Fuel franchise record for goals in a season.

NEEDING A WIN

Friday’s loss to the Iowa Heartlanders handed Indy their third straight loss. The last time Indy lost three straight games was April 11 through the 23rd where Indy lost four straight games.

Entering Saturday night, Indy’s Chad Yetman is averaging 1.17 points per game. Yetman is one of four Blackhawks prospects averaging a point or more per game.

LEEding THE WAY

Mike Lee comes into Saturday night with points in six out of his first seven games of the season. The 2nd-year pro tallied his first goal of the season on Friday night and leads the team in assists with 6.

YOUTH MOVEMENT

Indy’s top three points leaders are all 25 and under. Yetman (21) is currently tied with Mike Lee (25) for the team lead in points and behind them is Brent Gates (24) who has tallied a point per game this year.
