In their third and final home game of the week, the Indy Fuel hosted the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday, November 20. After scoring four straight goals in the first and second period, the Wings would hold off the Fuel to take the 5-3 win at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
GREAT GATES
Scoring a goal in Indy’s friday night contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones, Brent Gates leads the Fuel in points. Appearing in 18 games for Indy this season, the Grand Rapids, Michigan native has tallied seven goals and 10 assists.
WONDERFUL WATSON
Earning a goal of his own on Friday night, Spencer Watson has two goals in his last four games. The 25-year old winger has played in 17 games this season for the Fuel earning seven goals and three assists as well as a call-up to the Belleville Senators.
SPECIAL TEAMS NEEDED
Coming into Sunday’s matchup with the Kalamazoo Wings, the Fuel are the third-most penalized team in the ECHL. Earning 27 minutes of penalties during Indy’s game against the Cyclones on Friday, the Fuel killed off 6 out of 8 penalties. Killing off 77.4% of their penalties this season, Indy will need strong special teams against a Kalamazoo team that scores on 20% of their power plays.
WINGING IT
The Fuel have had a difficult time against the Kalamazoo Wings this season. Through two games this season Indy has lost by a combined score of 12-5. In their first 19 games this year, the Fuel have earned a 2-6-2-1 when playing on the road. In order to win their first win against the Wings this season, the Fuel will need players like Brent Gates and Spencer Watson to continue their scoring ways.
