This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with McCain Foods to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.
The Indy Fuel kicked off the month of December with collection events for the WRTV 21st Annual Toy Drive. The Toy Drive benefitted families all across Central Indiana, as well as families in Kentucky that were impacted by devastating tornadoes in mid-December. Fuel mascot Nitro was in attendance to help gather toy donations alongside WRTV personalities.
The Fuel also visited the Blue Star Military Family Holiday Party to help bring some holiday happiness. Founded in 2009 by military spouses, they connect military families with their civilian neighbors — both people and organizations — to create strong communities of mutual support. This annual holiday party benefits military families in need.
December marks the annual Indy Fuel Teddy Bear Toss game, and even those who didn’t attend were able to get in on the fun. Nitro visited Southport Academy’s Teddy Bear Pick Up Party, where 6th-grade students donated new stuffed animals and recreated the Indy Fuel Teddy Bear Toss by tossing them onto the gym floor.
To wrap up a busy month, the Indy Fuel visited the Zionsville Winterfest at Mulberry Fields Park. This year marked the first ever Winterfest event, which included an outdoor ice skating rink, food vendors, a holiday village, and many more activities. Nitro laced up his skates and joined Fuel fans on the ice, while the Fuel interns handed out team goodies.
The eighth season of Indy Fuel hockey is officially underway! The Indy Fuel are committed to getting back out into our communities and make a difference in the community that supports us every game. Whether it is our mascot Nitro, players, coaches or our staff, getting out into the community and making us all one big hockey family is one of the largest priorities of the Indy Fuel organization.
