This season the Fuel are proud to be teaming up with McCain Foods to help make a difference around Central Indiana. Each month, we'll take a closer look at what the Fuel organization has been up to away from the rink in our Community Spotlight.
The Fuel hosted their Hockey Fights Cancer game on January 15, 2022. This game featured special edition jerseys, printed with names of those close to the team who are currently fighting against cancer. These jerseys were auctioned off after the game, with all proceeds benefitting the Community Health Network and their work in cancer research. The final tally soared to over $22,000 raised.
Nitro, the Indy Fuel mascot, was busy outside of game days as well. He visited the ribbon cutting of a new Lou Malnati’s location in Broad Ripple, just a few minutes away from the Indiana Farmers Coliseum that he calls home.
Nitro also helped with delivering lunch to a classroom full of 3rd graders down at Creekside Elementary School. Their teacher, Amy McGowan, won an intermission game on Teacher’s Appreciation Night – because of this, she received a free lunch for her class, which was generously donated by Outback Steakhouse.
The eighth season of Indy Fuel hockey is officially underway! The Indy Fuel are committed to getting back out into our communities and make a difference in the community that supports us every game. Whether it is our mascot Nitro, players, coaches or our staff, getting out into the community and making us all one big hockey family is one of the largest priorities of the Indy Fuel organization.
