LAST TIME OUTThe last meeting over two months ago on January 26 the Fuel fell short against Iowa suffering a 5-3 defeat. Two quick goals from ex-Heartlander Cole Golka midway through the second put the Fuel in a hole they were unable to escape despite outshooting the Heartlanders 35-25.
YETMAN'S HOTFuel forward Chad Yetman is in the midst of a season-high 6 game point streak, tallying two goals and six assists over the stretch to go along with a +3 rating. During Saturday night’s contest in Toledo Yetman registered a goal and two assists in the team's 4-3 loss. With five points in two contests against Iowa, this season Yetman will look to stay hot in today’s contest.
FIRST GOAL MAGICIn the Fuel’s 10 games under interim Head Coach Duncan Dalmao, they have tallied the first goal in five of those games. In those games in which the Fuel have scored first, they hold a 4-1 record, compared to a record of 2-3 when allowing the first goal. In each of the team's six meetings against Iowa this season, the team that has struck first has gone on to win the contest.
POWER STRUGGLEPowerplays have not proven to be fruitful for either team over the first six meetings, even while averaging 6.8 powerplay chances per game. The Fuel powerplay is operating at 4.8% (1/21) while the fourth-ranked Iowa powerplay is only clicking at 10% (2/20) in matchups this season. While the powerplays have struggled to score the penalty kills have been coming through with each team tallying a shorthanded goal against the other this season. Look to forwards Riley McKay or Seamus Malone to add to their team-high three short-handed goals.
