COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: MAY 2022

Hockey may have gone into hibernation, but that doesn’t mean the Indy Fuel aren’t still out and about in the community! We’re teaming up with McCain Foods to make a difference in the Indianapolis and hockey communities. Take a look at what we were up to in May!

May 11 - Salvation Army Indiana Division’s Golf 4 Kids event

The Salvation Army Indiana Division hosted their Golf 4 Kids event at Brickyard Crossing Golf Course at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This event raised money for Hoosier children in need. Kirill Chaika, Jan Mandat and Nitro helped golfers at a putting contest! But plot twist - they had to put with hockey sticks. Head Coach Duncan Dalmao even came out to play!

May 11 - Children’s TherAplay Horsepower Carnival & Parade

Children’s TherAplay celebrated the month of May and their incredible kiddos and families with a sensory-friendly carnival and parade! Nitro got to tag along for all the fun.

May 14 - Indy Fuel 5K with Girls on the Run

Jan Mandat and Kirill Chaika helped hype up runners before the Indy Fuel 5K at Witten Park, benefitting Girls on the Run of Central Indiana. Chaiks even found himself behind the camera!

May 15 - 500 Festival Kids’ Day

Nitro joined the 500 Festival at their annual Kids’ Day, the state’s largest, free outdoor festival for kids!

May 21 - SpeedFest at The Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis hosted their inaugural SpeedFest, transforming their outdoor sports area into a racing wonderland. Nitro had fun helping the racers while Jan Mandat and Kirill Chaika played hockey and tennis with kids.

PHPA Player Relief Fund

Hockey is a community. It’s a family. The Indy Fuel have teamed up with the ECHL and Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) Player Relief Fund to assist league players who are unable to return to their homes in Eastern Europe during the offseason due to ongoing conflict in the area. 

Those wishing to help support these players can do so by donating to the official GoFundMe.
