INDIANAPOLIS- The Indy Fuel hosted the Cincinnati Cyclones in the final of back-to-back preseason games at home. Despite a comeback, Indy ultimately fell to Cincinnati 5-4.
In the first period, the Cyclones registered two goals early on. Later on, the Fuel got two quick goals back courtesy of Andrew Bellant and Josh McDougall. The first period ended all tied up at two.
Less than a minute into the second period Andrew Perrott and Cincinnati’s Kyler Matthews were handed five minute major penalties each, which started an onslaught of fighting and roughing penalties. Twelve additional penalties were handed out before time expired in the second period, but not without goals from Passolt and Francis of Cincinnati and Indy’s Jan Mandat to make it 4-3 at the end of the second period.
Keoni Texiera opened the scoring in the third period with a game-tying goal six minutes into the period, but it was just three minutes later that Cincinnati took the lead again with a goal by Colella. With a score of 5-4, time expired in the preseason.
