MATCHUP: Indy Fuel @ Wheeling Nailers

FOLLOW ALONG

INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel are heading to Wheeling today for a rematch of last Sunday’s game where the Fuel handed the Nailers their seventh loss of the season by a score of 6-1. Indy hopes to claim a win and extend their divisional first place lead.

LAST TIME OUT

The Fuel hosted Wheeling last Sunday where they came away with a 6-1 win over the Nailers. Alex Wideman tallied two goals, Jan Mandat scored his tenth goal of the season and Cam Hillis shined both offensively and defensively. Christopher Cameron was issued a fighting major penalty as well as a one-game suspension for fighting late in the third period. He will serve that suspension during Wednesday’s match with Wheeling.

WATCH OUT FOR WIDEMAN

After a four game pointless streak, Wideman broke out again with a three-point game against Wheeling. With the help of Cam Hillis and Fuel newcomer Shane Kuzmeski, Wideman had a first star-worthy night and is poised to do so again in Wheeling this time. He is now tied for first in points among Fuel players with 16 on the season.

SECOND PERIOD STARS

Indy has statistically played their best in the second period and have only lost one game this season where they were ahead after two periods. The Fuel have scored eighteen goals during the second period so far this season, compared to sixteen and thirteen in the first and third respectively.  The Fuel do allow the most goals in the third period however, with fifteen so far this season.
