MATCHUP: Indy Fuel @ Fort Wayne Komets
PUCK DROP: 7:30 p.m. EST
INDIANAPOLIS- After a wild, history-making game against Cincinnati last night, the Fuel head to Fort Wayne to hopefully finish off the calendar year with a win over their cross-state rivals.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was Sunday, December 18 where the Fuel visited the Komets and ultimately lost 5-4 in a goal for goal showdown where Indy just didn’t have enough time to get ahead in the end. The game began with a fight just 34 seconds into the game and overall saw three major penalties handed out.
MORE FOR MALONE
Last night against Cincinnati, Seamus Malone earned first star of the game after netting a hat trick, his third game-winning goal of the season and helping the Fuel to a 9-6 victory over the Cyclones for the first time this season. This week, he was also announced as the Fuel’s representative for the 2023 ECHL All-Star Classic and seems to already be putting on a show for that accolade.
SPECIAL TEAMS SUCCESS
The Fuel, who had struggled with special teams earlier in the season, have found their footing when penalties are involved. Indy scored two power play goals last night as well as a shorthanded goal and were able to kill off every penalty they took, reaching a new season high in consecutive penalties killed at home of 14 in a row.
