INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel announced today that they have signed forward Matus Spodniak. The 5’11 forward is joining the Fuel from Adrian College where he has played the last two seasons, tallying 94 points in 60 games. During the 2022-23 season, the Kocise, Slovakia native led the Bulldogs in points with 57.

Prior to his time at Adrian, Spodniak attended the American International College for three seasons where he played in seven games. Before starting his collegiate career, Spodniak played three seasons for the Ogden Mustangs of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL).

In his 2017-18 season with the Mustangs, he tallied 146 points becoming the franchise’s all time goals, assists and points leader as well as single-season leader in all three of those categories as well.

Additionally, defenseman Koletrane Wilson and forward Colin Bilek have been assigned by the Rockford IceHogs to the Fuel again.

This season with the Fuel, Wilson has played in 23 games where he has scored one goal, tallied seven assists and collected 48 penalty minutes.

Bilek joined the Fuel after 45 games with the Trois-Rivieres Lions of the ECHL, where he recorded 14 goals and nine assists. Prior to that, he was captain of the West Point Black Knights for his final two of four seasons. He led the team in scoring both of those years. In his collegiate career he recorded 43 goals and 50 assists.

With the Fuel, Bilek scored four goals and tallied one assist in ten games, including a two-goal game against the Fort Wayne Komets on March 12.

Finally, the Fuel have also claimed forward Darby Llewellyn off of waivers from the Kalamazoo Wings. Llewellyn is a 26-year-old forward from Ann Arbor, Michigan who recorded sixteen points in 54 games with the K-Wings this season.

Prior to that, the 6’0 winger played the 2021-22 season in Europe helping Halmstad Hammers HC to a playoff qualification and tallying 36 points in 19 games with Narvik Hockey in Norway.

Llewellyn has also played for the Tulsa Oilers, Atlanta Gladiators and Rapid City Rush of the ECHL.
