INDIANAPOLIS - The Fuel will head to Fort Wayne for the first of two matchups against each other this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
It was a tight contest a week ago on Black Friday between these two rivals. After multiple goal reviews, a penalty shot, and an overtime affair, the Komets pulled out on top 3-2 to take a one-game lead on the season series.
Indy outshot Fort Wayne 33 to 23 and, in a surprising turn of events for these teams, only eight minutes of penalties were assessed with no penalty minutes coming in the 2nd period.
FOE TURNED FRIEND
Anthony Petruzzelli was known to Fuel fans as a hated enemy for many years. The 30-year-old has 344 games played in his pro career and 323 of them were with the Komets. The two-year Alternate turned two-year Captain for Fort Wayne has now come over to the Fuel after spending the first 13 games of this season with Jacksonville.
It will be a homecoming for the long-time Komet who will now enter the arena from the other side hearing a host of boos and the sound of deafening silence instead of roaring cheers when he finds the back of the net.
AROUND THE DIVISION
Currently, the Toledo Walleye sit atop the Central West Division with 20 points, just one point ahead of the Iowa Heartlanders. Fort Wayne, Wheeling, and Cincinnati all sit in the middle of the pack separated by just one point. The Fuel are gaining momentum with five points in their last three games but currently sit in last place in the Western Central Division with 12 points.
