FUEL HEAD TO FORT WAYNE FOR IN-STATE MATCHUP

INDIANAPOLIS - The Fuel head to Fort Wayne for the first match-up between the two in-state rivals since the start of the New Year.

LAST TIME OUT

It was a treat for everyone at Indiana Farmers Coliseum when Zach Driscoll and Brett Brochu dropped the gloves for the second-ever goalie fight in Fuel team history.

The Fuel took the lead early on in the game and never surrendered the lead in a 5-2 win for their final game at home in 2023. Kyle Maksimovich, the ECHL’s February Rookie of the Month, netted two goals and two assists in the last match up with other goals coming from Cam Hillis, Santino Centorame, and Kale Howarth.

SNAPPING THE STREAK

No Cam Hillis for the Fuel has proven a hurdle for the team. The leader in points for the team has been with the Hartford Wolf Pack in four of the last five games. In those four games, the Fuel have been winless.

Hillis has been the best player for the Fuel this season and there is still an adjustment period with him out of the line-up. With the first matchup against the Komets in over two months, both teams have changed plenty and this looks to be the game the Fuel get right without Hillis in the line-up.

AROUND THE DIVISION

The Toledo Walleye have been holding the lead in the division with 71 points. The Fuel hold second in the division with 64 points with the Nailers right behind at 62 points, despite a four-game losing streak. The Komets and Wings are tied in fourth place with 59 points with Cincinnati and Iowa bringing up the rear with 55 and 51 points, respectively.
