INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel announced on Tuesday that they have signed goaltender Peyton Jones to a standard player contract for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Jones, 28, joins the Fuel from the Iowa Heartlanders where he played 33 games last season. He posted a .897 save percentage and went 12-18-1 on the season. In four games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) last year, he went 1-3 with a .867 save percentage. He represented the Heartlanders at the ECHL All-Star Game last season as well.
During the 2022-23 season, Jones played for the Nottingham Panthers and Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in the United Kingdom. The Langhorne, Pennsylvania native helped the Panthers to the playoffs after posting a .904 save percentage in the regular season.
The 6’4 goaltender played for the Utah Grizzlies during the 2021-22 season where he went 17-9-1 with a .904 save percentage. In the playoffs that season, he posted a .883 save percentage through six games.
Prior to his professional career, Jones played four seasons at Penn State where he helped the Nittany Lions win their first Big Ten Championship in 2017. Jones was named Big Ten Tournament MVP that year. In 2019, Penn State were the regular season champions in the Big Ten with Jones in net.
