INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel will host the Florida Everblades on Wednesday night to kick off a three-game series against the reigning Kelly Cup champions. The Everblades have won the last three Kelly Cup championships and currently sit in first place in the ECHL with 68 points and a 31-9-5-1 record.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was January 16, 2020 in Indy when the Fuel fell 4-2 to the Everblades. Florida’s Blake Winiecki had two power play goals on the night. While there are no remaining players from that game on either team, special teams have been an important part of the Fuel’s season and with three power play goals and a shorthanded goal scored in that matchup, that will ring true again this week.
SCOUTING REPORT
While the Fuel have not met the Everblades in five years, there will be a few familiar faces on the roster. Former Fuel defenseman Santino Centorame now mans the blue line for Florida. Former division rival, Logan Lambdin has 13 goals and 13 assists for the Everblades this year while Tyler Kobryn and Dillon Hamaliuk have spent significant time in the Central division as well. Additionally, Fuel leading goal scorer Cam Hausinger was traded to Indy from Florida at the end of the 2023-24 season.
