INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel will host the Iowa Heartlanders for the first of a two-game set against them this weekend in Indy. As the Fuel look to gain momentum with a full roster and teams to chase in the Central division, they could earn four important points this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was in Iowa for two games on January 11 and 12 when the Heartlanders swept the Fuel, outscoring them 6-2 through both games. Nathan Burke and Kevin Lombardi were the two goal scorers for Indy in those matches while Ben Gaudreau and Joe Vrbetic split the weekend in goal. The Fuel roster has seen some significant changes since those games.
SPECTACULAR SPECIAL TEAMS
It is no secret that special teams play an important part in any team’s success but with how often the Fuel have equated a perfect penalty kill and scoring on the power play with winning, it’s imperative if they want to claim two wins this weekend. Indy boasts the best penalty kill in the league with a 87.2% success rate on the PK. Additionally, sixteen of their 21 wins this season have come when they score a power play goal.
