INDIANAPOLIS- The Fuel will host the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the second night in a row before heading to Fort Wayne to take on their in-state rivals on Sunday evening. After a 4-3 loss last night, Indy will look to bounce back against the South division opponent.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was last night where Indy’s Bryan Lemos kicked off the game with a shorthanded goal to give the Fuel an early lead. Unfortunately, Greenville’s Tate Singleton netted a hat trick. Despite a late comeback for Indy, the Swamp Rabbits took the 4-3 win.
SHOTS AND SHORTIES
Heading into last night’s game, the Swamp Rabbits have allowed the most shorthanded goals in the league. The Fuel quickly capitalized on that with a goal by Lemos. However, of the four games where the Fuel have scored while shorthanded, they haven’t won one. High shots are imperative for Indy’s success as they are often stifled in their own zone when they don’t find opportunities to get pucks to the net. Last night, Indy outshot Greenville 29-23, only outshooting them by a wide margin in the third period where they found the most scoring success. They will need to capitalize on that sooner tonight.
