INDIANAPOLIS - Both teams are coming off of a Saturday win heading into this key divisional matchup. The Fuel won 2-1 over Cincinnati while Fort Wayne split the weekend series against Wheeling with a 5-3 comeback win. Both teams look for points in the standings to round out the weekend.
ROOKIE MAGIC
Kevin Lombardi scored his fifth game-winning goal Saturday, he is tied for 2nd in the league for rookies with GWG. His goal was his first back from his time in Rockford. Lucas Brenton has points in back-to-back nights, with a goal on Friday and an assist on Darby Llewellyn's equalizer goal on Saturday. With late-season injuries, the rookies will have to step up against a veteran-focused Komets team.
HOME ICE REST
Despite having an away game in Cincinnati on Saturday, the Fuel had a home game Friday and another Sunday. At the same time, Fort Wayne is coming off of two days in Wheeling and a long drive back. The Fuel will need to capitalize on being the more rested team and take advantage of the crowd’s energy.
